7 Simple Steps to Launch Your Brand & Life Coaching Website

February 25th, 2015 | no comments

In today’s episode of Wake Up Wednesday, Michelle P asks:

“What’s the process for launching a website?”

Whoa!

Michelle, this is a big and incredible question. (And probably one a lot of women watching this will want to give you a big ol’ squeeze for asking!)

And my answer’s pretty detailed, so let’s not waste another second.

In my experience (and I’ve launched a ton of sites, products, and offerings in the past few years):

Launching a website is way less about tech stuff and way more about emotional clarity and confidence in taking flight in the world. {Tweet it!}

It’s really about putting yourself out there and saying “I’m willing to be seen now! And I’m ready to serve in a bigger way”.

We’d like to think this is easy – but the reality is, it’s a critical moment of rising on the heroine’s path. And working up the courage to take such a leap, and put yourself out there on a grander scale, is no small feat.

So, start by asking yourself the most important question:

Am I ready for this?

You’ll know you’re completely ready to launch your website when you’ve got the following 3 things down pat:

  1. You’ve fearlessly promoted your coaching business by word of mouth in person first
  2. You’ve worked with 5 or more consistent, paying clients
  3. Through working with those clients, you’re clear about who you are here to coach and how you can help them. You know who you’re uniquely called to serve through your coaching business.

Why are they so essential? Because mastering those 3 things means you’ve created a brand!

If you haven’t done one or all of the items above, stop this video now and come back when you’ve got those three pieces in place! Otherwise, a website will just become a huge waste of your money, time and energy. It will only distract you from the 3 areas you need to focus on first.

Need a website? Put together a simple one with a free canvas on wordpress.com.

Ready to go with those 3 major factors?

Here are the simple steps to launch your website:

Step 1: Set a date (and a few other dates in between!)

When will the website go live? Write it on your calendar.

Between now and then, what has to happen? Set some dates for milestones you plan to pass.

Step 2: Build your team (or decide to fly solo!)

While a new web launch is certainly a task you can tackle alone – but it will take some serious time, energy, and muscle.

So, if you decide to hire a team of pros to support you, consider what aspects you want support with.

Do you need a web designer? A developer? A photographer in your corner? A branding expert? A copywriter? A PR team/social media guru/launch manager/business coach?

Decide who you’re craving in your corner. Do your research on the best platforms to use, and interview at least 3 people in each field before you decide (talk to actual references).

Step 3: Decide on your name, buy your domain, and get web hosting

I recommend using Hover for your domain name, Small Orange for your hosting, and WordPress as your design platform. And if you want to take your coaching business to 6-figure level, then you must get Ontraport for your automated marketing.

Step 4: Develop your personal branding

You need to figure out exactly who you are, and what makes you stand out.

How do you want to share your work with the world?

What kind of lifestyle and connection do you crave with your peeps?

Step 5: Consider your niche

For this, I recommend a specific “calling in your dream clients meditation” watch today’s episode for more details.

Step 6: Write your copy, based on your niche and personal brand

Yes, this is also something you can technically do on your own. However, you may want help from a copywriter who knows how to create web traffic flow to keep your website viewers engaged, and can help you create your story and programs.

Step 7: Tell everyone!

Pass the good word about what you’re doing to your friends, family, and colleagues that you’re launching and going live.

Ask for support in sharing your passion and love mission with the world. Write a press release announcing your arrival! Celebrate live and in person with friends and family. This is huge!

This is so important because you want to feel the love and energy. The last website I launched was my big life coach training program www.MentorMasterclass.com, and I did it with 18 girlfriends on retreat in a cabin in Vermont. You can watch the replay here:

After all was said and done, I threw on online virtual party on Google+, where all of the women in the cabin and online pushed to go live with me together.

It made such a difference!

Bonus tip: Launch with a special offer or limited time program offering to build buzz and momentum.

And now, we would love to hear from all of you out there!
