How To Delegate The Tasks Only You Know How To Do Without Wasting Time Training Someone New

October 8th, 2014 | 6 comments

The leaves are changing here on the East Coast, can you believe it?

During this time I’m always completely torn:

Should I dance and celebrate this beautiful weather?

Or

Start crying because the cold is on its way?

I’m still a total California girl at heart. Can you tell?

I’m choosing to focus on the beauty and the good of fall and letting go of any winter blues this year (you must know that by now).

Plus, the Mentor Masterclass Holiday Challenge is coming up so I know December is going to be incredible!

Are you feeling the movement and momentum of the fall season?

I bet you are on your way to finishing up those final missions in preparation for turning inward. Even if you are in sunny California, you’re a woman, and we operate in cycles. That’s just how we do! So if you feel a little hustle in your step, it’s all good.

If I took a sneak peek at your to-do list, I’m almost certain I’d find WAY too many things asking for your energy.

Am I right?

I know you can handle more than the average superstar AND I know that you have unreasonable expectations of how much you should actually be doing in a day.

I’ve got a trick for you that will literally save the day. Like, free up enough time for pumpkin patch adventures and creative carving. You know you want to.

My hubby and I did these these last weekend:

JeyHubbyPumpkins

I spent some time yesterday reflecting on my favorite summer memories. I remembered a video I made for my friend Erin Stutland to support her with her upcoming Shrink Session Launch.

(If you haven’t taken the time to daydream a little about your summer adventures, I invite you to. It’s soo worth it)

I’m sharing it with you today because it’s going to triple your productivity, help you to release over protective control and place hours of life back in your pocket.

Erin spent a weekend here in Connecticut this summer and we planned a day of paddle-boarding with a few girlfriends. While we were bathing in the sun (happy sigh), Erin was explaining to me all of the tasks she has to do in Ontraport (that’s the marketing software we both use for our coaching businesses).

I asked, “Why isn’t your assistant or launch manager doing that for you love?”
She said, “They don’t know the system or how to do it as efficient as I do. I know Ontraport better because I’ve been using it for years.”

Sound familiar?

Have you ever thought, “Why delegate a task when, in the same time it would take me to teach someone how to do it, I could just do it myself?”

Erin is a genius creator and thought leader, like you, and I know she is not my only sister wasting her energy where it’s not of greatest service.

Are you wasting your time on tasks that are not the greatest return on investment, considering your unique talents?

I created this video to help you get over this excuse and energy drain, once and for all.

In this clip I show you how to use Google + Hangouts and screenshare to record yourself in action so that you can share it with your team and free yourself from that task forever.

This is a genius way to receive more support from people on your team and in your life with no extra time needed to explain it.

Simply take care of the task yourself, for the very last time, film yourself and verbally work through the steps out loud as you do. Now, you have a training resource to teach your support team how to complete it in the best possible way.

I feel pretty giddy just imagining you kicking up your feet after you record and hand off your first task. I can just see you with the cutest smirk on your face. It’s gonna feel so good!

One of my favorite, bullet proof secrets to success for women coaches is learning to become a professional receiver. You have GOT to know how to receive as much support as you give. That’s how you stay full and manage to vibrate on a higher frequency for the rest of the world.

When you share clear information on how people can best support you, you shine!

Now I’m DYING to hear from you.

I want to know, what is your favorite summer memory from this year?
AND
What task are you excited to film and hand off now that you know how?

Can’t wait to meet you in the comment section of the blog where I’ll share my response to these questions too!

  1. Love it – what a great way to teach someone else (and you could use it over and over again)!!!

Favorite summer memory – vacation of course! Especially our time at the beach.

    • Hi Pam! Using it over and over is the best part. It’s so easy to get into the story that we don’t have time to pass it off and we can literally do the task, film it and have a training video to use for LIFE. Where was your vacation this year sister? I visited Costa Rica for the first time this year and Brent learned to surf on one of the most beautiful beaches. The beach was a shared highlight for me too!

  2. Thank you lovely Jey! “Professional receiver” – that’s fantastic! Life seems to be putting lessons on delegation in my path a lot lately. How synchronistic and just perfect for me – like everything in Mentor Masterclass. Thank you, I have taken note and it is extremely helpful. Much appreciated!

  3. Great vid, Jey. So simple and easy to follow. Even though I’m young, I’m not super familiar with Google+ simply because I haven’t taken the time to really dig around. This gave me more confidence as I think about bringing video into my business on a more regular basis. Great tool. Thank you….keep em’ comin’ sister!

  4. Great tips Jey! I just recently passed off a volunteer newsletter editor job and am feeling quite giddy about it. I had done it so long and felt trapped. When I finally let it go it was like a huge weight off my shoulders. Ahh!

My favorite summer memory? Every July our town hosts Porch Fest where local bands perform for free from the front porches of historic homes downtown. You spend the day walking from street to street enjoying great music for free and meeting up with friends and neighbors. That evening we held a porch party and invited all our neighbors. We just hung out on the front porch, barbecued, ate, drank, and generally just enjoyed each others company. It was such a great way to generate community and feel connected. I think we’ll do it again next year!

  5. I love this! Such a great idea!!! Love, love it!

My favorite summer memory this year was going home to see my family upstate. My cousin’s kids all put on a play for the adults on the beach. It was really special to be there.
