I’m a Health Coach—How Can I Go Deeper and Talk About Other Things?

February 7th, 2017 | 4 comments

We all go through transitions in life, constantly. They are incredibly uncomfortable. I’m going through one in my personal life right now and I can tell you that standing strong and trusting your desires is scary when you don’t know the outcome.

This is true for many women who are feeling the calling to make a shift in their coaching business, especially early on when you just feel like you’ve got your footing and can taste success.

What will happen if you change course, narrow in on your niche, launch a new program?

This week I got to talk with Angelle Batten, who’s just about to graduate from Mentor Masterclass, my signature life coaching program.

(Want to hop over and listen in on our enlightening conversation? Just PRESS PLAY on the video below!)

She’s a health and lifestyle coach for women who want to create a sweeter, more nourished life and she’s the cofounder of the Nourish to Flourish Society.

Angelle lays it all out there with this empowering question: I’m a health coach, how can I go deeper and talk about other things?

(Press play on the video below to find out how you can expand what you talk about as a coach.)

A few highlights from our conversation today you don’t want to miss:
  • The one thing you’ll need to expand as soon as you can – it’s my #1 piece of advice! (Jump to the 1:55 point in the video to find out what it is.)

  • What’s missing in most health coach training programs, and what you can do to fill in the gaps. (2:47)

  • How NOT to get stuck when you’ve already started a brand, brought in clients, and established your expertise in health coaching. (4:32)

  • The best way to start exploring a new path with your existing health coaching clients (I’ll give you a script to work from at the 9:25 point in the video.)

  • What to keep in mind as you invest in your personal development process. (Here’s a hint: it’s NOT more information! Find out more at the 17:19 mark in the video.)

  • And so much more.

No matter what kind of moves you’re looking to make in your business, get ready for some huge energy shifts that might take you in exciting (and sometimes terrifying!) new directions. Surround yourself with loving support, and get a sisterhood or other mastermind in place to reflect what you’re seeing in your growth.

And as women, it’s far more effective to tune into your own power structure, rather than try to follow a step-by-step system someone else has created.

You’ll be amazed at what happens when you get clear and find the courage to change how you’re showing up in the world.

All my love,

Jey

  1. Hi Jey,
Thank you for this post 🙂 Re-branding can be scary! You mentioned self-trusting, trust from clients, a support system, and outright honest conversations on the topics we want to address with our clients. I have a question on this last element: how would you recommend dealing with the types of clients that you mentioned around 9:35 who would not see any benefit in working on something else than their diet?
    Thank you,
    Caroline xx

    • Hey Caroline,

I would not recommend dealing with them at all if you can avoid it. Meaning, honor your desire, gifts and passion. There is power when you realize that not every client is right for you. Your tribe, your ideal client, the people you best serve will not resist the ideas you share. They will resonate with them deeply. This is where you shift into ease in your business and discover your niche. And if you can not avoid it, I would ask them to trust you, work with them on their belief system. Reveal to them that there is transformation available on the other side of trying something new. How can you encourage them to trust you, even for a tiny period of time. This might open the door to seeing things in a different way! Good luck love!

  2. Good morning! I really appreciated and resonated with the Q and A today with Angelle. I am a health coach who really aligns more as a lifestyle coach (which I just realized today from your talk with Angelle). I am currently in the process of changing my voice to have it align with my truth. As I think through my package offerings Im wondering if you have advice on how to develop a package that matches this truth? I know there are is not a masculine structure to follow but if you had any advice around starting the package development structure? I hope that makes sense! Thank you for everything you do!

    • Hey Angie,

I think I understand your question love, and I’m so happy this was supportive, it’s a common challenge for health coaches! The first thing you can do to shift your packages, development and marketing, is to focus on what problem your client is having that you are most interested and masterful at solving. By pivoting from a health problem to a lifestyle problem, you can begin to honor your truth. The truth that what you do is help people with their lifestyle. Your ideal clients, those you best and most powerfully serve, will know that what they want and need is a lifestyle coach. So position your packages to focus on communicating more clear that the problems you solve, who you are, how you serve, what you like, what they can trust in you has to do with lifestyle first. Show case this first in all of your copy, free content and of course sales pages for your programs! Does this answer your question Angie?
