Magic NLP Coaching Technique: How to Work with Your Client’s Unconscious Mind

April 8th, 2015 | 6 comments

Do you ever wish you could just tap into your clients unconscious mind? Do you wish you had better skills as a coach so you could just tap right into their brain and make clarity, action, and change easy peasy for your coaching clients?

Wouldn’t it be crazy awesome if you knew how to get instant access to the wonderful qualities of creativity and intuition living in your clients very own brain?

Most coaches stick with the conscious mind, because it’s logical and sensible.

And, while that part of the brain is great for, say, getting your tax return filed on time, the unconscious mind is full of so many more wondrous things I can’t wait to explore with you.

It stores a lifetime of memories and creative ideas. And, most importantly, our unconscious mind really knows how to take care of our emotional well-being.

That’s why I’m sharing the NLP coaching technique I use to tap into and work with my clients unconscious mind in today’s episode! Check it out!

If you didn’t learn this technique in your life coach training course, let me teach it to you now.

Your clients unconscious mind is a wonderful learning machine that you should utilize and invite into your sessions way more then I’m guessing you do now.

It’s much easier than you think, but there is a trick involved: you have to choose to bring it into your coaching conversations with intention.

The unconscious mind is accessed by being not doing.

So, what do I mean by being? I reveal the secrets to being vs doing in today’s episode. Take a moment to watch it now and learn this powerful NLP coaching technique.

I’m talking about specific experiences, like walking in nature, practicing meditation, free writing in a journal, staring at the stars, taking a trip to an art gallery, musical, play or concert.

When you and your client are being present in the experience, the unconscious mind will raise it’s hand, share it’s voice and come to life.

As a coach, you want to encourage your clients to engage in activities that free them from their conscious, linear brain. They don’t always teach you this in life coach training. The activities I share in today’s episode will open you up mastering the coaching techniques that will allow you to tap into the amazing powers of unconscious thought.

Curious about how to do this in a live session with your client? Then it’s time to wake up YOUR unconscious mind first!

So, how can you get your client into any of these unconscious mind initiator experiences using this NLP coaching technique?

Here’s what I do (and I share in more detail in today’s episode so be sure to watch it):

I start every 1:1 session, live group call or in person workshop with a meditation. I plan a moment to encourage them to pause and write in their journal during our session. And, as much as possible, I work with my clients outdoors.

The unconscious mind may be a necessary shift to help your client find more insight and inspiration. So, if you can find a way to do this live in your life coaching sessions, you’ll end up having way more resources to work with than settling for the simple responses from the conscious mind.

Now the real connection, life coach training and sisterhood happens in the comment section. Let’s practice playing with our unconscious mind together. Shall we?

Ask this question out loud: What do I really need to know, appreciate or believe to experience the most happiness available to me today?

Then put on some music, stare out your window at the clouds, and take 3 deep breaths.

Now, ask yourself the question again, and comment below! Just start typing and share the thoughts you find resting in your unconscious mind with your sisters.

I will be there to flow with you.

And hey! Did you get the gift I sent over in the email sharing today’s video? I included an audio meditation to help work with the unconscious mind.

  1. Great video Jey! What came up for me when I sat with your question was ease and flow. I am writing this on Saturday and they are one of my favorite days of the week. I spend almost the entire day in my beautiful home office diving deep into my coaching work. I take breaks to go out side and be in nature and generally follow my flow. Saturdays are filled with ease and I just LOVE it! Thanks for the fun exercise and the great tips for working with my clients. xoxo – Mary

  2. As I am watching your video at almost 1 a.m. I am reflecting on the fact that I need to know I’m worth it. I need to appreciate myself and believe that I can do it. I can make the changes necessary that will create more happiness in my life. I am grateful all ready for the changes that are happening so thank you Jey that you are a part of helping me to get there as a coach and as a sovereign Queen!
