Meet the 5 Goddess Archetypes. Which One Are You?

November 8th, 2016 | no comments

One of the biggest mistakes I see women make is thinking they can start a life coaching business without getting official training as a coach.

And the most annoying misconception I have ever heard about life coaches is that you’re just paying someone to be your friend. Learning and using powerful coaching techniques is what separates someone as a professional coach who gets results from someone who’s simply giving advice. Archetype coaching is one example of the kind of training that allows you to access key skills to become a master coach.

This week on Wake Up Wednesday, I want to introduce you to the Five Archetypes we work with inside Mentor Masterclass and show you how they can support you in your coaching practice. I’m sharing a lesson straight from the Mentor Masterclass workbook!

Did you know that, as a life coach, your state of mind is the foundation of everything you do?

A lot of coaches talk about how wise they are, how much they know, and their depth of intelligence and understanding. But put them in a live coaching session and they crumble!  If you can’t cultivate the right states of mind and ‘turn yourself on’ during a coaching session you won’t be able to deliver the goods in real time.

Meet the 5 Goddess Archetypes. Which One Are You?

Ways To Think About Your ‘Coaching State of Mind’

There are several ways to think of what I mean by the term “state of mind.” Today I’m going to teach you two of the five State of Mind techniques you need to know in order to become a master at Archetypal coaching.

You can use these ways of understanding what this term should mean for you as a coach who needs to step into these states during your coaching sessions.

Think of these states of mind as:

  • Roles

  • Mindset

We have three different “brains” that think pretty independently of each other:

  • Logical,

  • Emotional, and

  • Physical.

You’ll use one or two of these much more than the others. You have a natural comfort zone where you like to spend most of your time, and that comfort zone includes a way of thinking.

Each of the archetypes we can go into value one or two of these “brains” above the others.

Are you using the logical part or your brain, or the emotional? Or, is this mindset a purely physical drive?

You want to be able to program yourself with it and create your own personality using each of the five areas I’ve taught you today, so you can build it into any coaching session you want.

Inside Mentor Masterclass I teach you the logical, emotional and physical aspects to embody as each archetype. Today I’ll give you a sneak peek understanding of how to learn this mastery level of coaching by just sharing the mind body connection of each archetype.

Action – Warress

This archetype most resonates with the “leader” coaching style that’s best at getting their clients into action. The leader uses the skill of getting her clients to do what they don’t want to do… the accountability mindset.

Their focus with a client is, “Do something so you’ll make a change!” and they’ll command their clients to go on a quest or a crusade to see that change through to the end.

The Warrior Mindset

  • Unflappable, resilient, focused.

  • Always ready to fight or defend.

  • Uses power, force, and strength.

  • Bottom line oriented, all about getting the goal.

  • Purely Physical in NaturePurely Physical in Nature

  • Cool and Calculated

Physiology (Mind/Body connection to embody the avatar):

  • Intensity. Any intense gesture, movement, or look on your face.

  • Looking down at the client (superior posture/stance).

  • Dominating/commanding and making it happen.

  • ‘Coach’ physiology

  • ‘Drill Sergeant’ physiology

Intuition – Wizard

The Wizard is most adept at the ‘Strategist’ style of coaching. The Wizard embodies the Strategist’s ability to take any idea and improve it, organize it, and transform it into a genius-level plan.

The wizard comes from the whimsical, creative mindset, always wanting to understand more and to see every facet or dimension of an issue. Think of this as the ‘tinkerer’ in all of us. In an instant everything can be shifted.

Combining both the emotional and logical parts of the brain in their thinking process, the wizard uses the emotional side in their intuition, but they are logical about it. Think of this as emotional intelligence. This intersection is what creates the “effortless magic” coming from the wizard’s coaching.

The Mindset

  • Curiosity

  • Intuition / Magic

  • Effortlessness

  • Instant Changes

  • Using invention and creativity to solve problems

Physiology

  • Smile

  • Look up (as in visualizing)

  • ‘Hmmm…’ type of look (scratching your chin, furrow your brow, with a little smile).

Empathy – Lover

The Lover mindset embodies the ‘Friend’ style of coaching. The empathy mindset is perfect for the listening the friend offers to their clients. This delivers a sense of understanding within the coaching relationship. The lover comes from (and is driven by) pure emotion, without logic or any physical focus.

The Mindset

  • Caring

  • Acceptance (Warrior may attack that person, the Friend will give them a hug)

Physiology

  • Loving/caring look on your face

  • Breathing deeply and soulfully

  • Head cocked to one side or tipped slightly down (so as to look ‘up’, rather than down, at the client)

  • Palms open and facing up

  • ‘Ah’ feeling in throat

Knowledge – Scholar The Wise Woman

The Scholar archetype connects best with the consultant style of coaching, which is, of course, all about delivering knowledge and information.

The scholar gets excited about teaching and learning, and is more of an intellectually-driven mindset (without much of a physical or emotional connection).

Physiology

  • Non Physical (In your head)

  • Numb, except for a focus on the head, mouth, or eyes… connecting with thought only.

Authority – Sovereign (King or Queen)

The Sovereign / Authority is most adept at coaching in the Guru style for their clients. The Sovereign combines the physical and emotional thinking to create their power. Although they may have the ability to employ logic in their work, the Sovereign doesn’t need logic to rule or take charge. They always serve with that dominant mindset.

As an authority, you’ll naturally direct your client’s focus, action, and emotions.

The Mindset

  • Guru

  • Certainty (Knowing you are the one)

Physiology

  • Firm

  • Stable / centered

  • Strong

If you embody these 5 states or emotions, and combine them when needed, you’ll empower yourself and your clients.

  • If you take on the warrior, getting them to action.

  • If you take on the wizard, being curious and using your intuition.

  • If you take on the lover, being empathetic and reassuring;

  • If you take on the scholar, with the critical knowledge to get your client to be clear and have hope;

  • And if you take on the king or queen role by leading your clients to serve and direct, shift, transform, change, and ultimately expand, it’s a very powerful state of mind.

Orchestrate all this with the King or Queen within you in charge of all the archetypes so you’ll be able to direct all of them to serve YOU. Then serve your clients, and watch what unfolds.

Now I’d love to hear from you in the comments: which archetype resonates with you? And why? Let us know!

P.S. I love talking about goddess energy and I recently went into a lot more detail on the subject in an interview with Nadia Munla for her Embody Festival. The Embody Festival is an online festival that includes movement classes, interviews with top female thought leaders (like me!), art submissions, daily playlists & more.

As a featured guest in the festival, I had the honor of joining the conversation on what it means to reclaim our feminine bodies & step into our full power. Nadia and I talked about everything from erotic energy to goddess work to self care and finding emotional support. If you want to see my full interview and access all the other festival goodies while you’re at it, sign up to join the festival HERE. It’s free!
