(Shhhh! 3 Secrets From A Young Life Coach)

“Young” Life Coach used to be a trigger word for me. Several years into my successful coaching business, 50 hate mail letters after my first moment in the “expert spotlight” in the NYT and on my way out of my 20s, I love being refereed to as a young Life Coach.

Actually, using it in the title of my blog, with the mission of connecting with all of you beautiful young coaches (who I absolutely LOVE to serve), makes me feel like I’m throwing a fierce middle finger to a fear that no longer exists in my belief system.

If you are worried, my dearest “super star coach to be”, be gentle with your intentions, you WILL conquer this fear.

I’ve Been Keeping Young Life Coach Secrets

I can’t hold my breath anymore. In just 5 months my income has tripled, I’ve made some really tough decisions, invested ridiculous amounts of money in my own freedom, endured tough transitions, celebrated with Danielle LaPorte and got the courage to have heart opening conversations with my hubby.

AND…

I’ve been creating something wild within my business that will change the lives of coaches everywhere.

I call it “mission spotlight” (but I’m not ready to share that secret yet).

My friend and coach Nisha Moodley says, “Harboring creativity is like really bad constipation. It doesn’t feel good for anyone”.  I can’t tell you how hard I belly laugh when she uses potty metaphors in our coaching sessions.

It’s soooo damn true though.

I’m tired of quietly creating over here, having all of this valuable content just chillin. It’s giving me a real bad stomach-ache.  It’s time to set it free.

1. World Domination

This month I took over Portland with 2,799 other change makers at The World Domination Summit 2013, led by Chris Guillebeau.

WDS 2013 is an event for creative empowerment in your business and networking with entrepreneurs from across the world.

Honestly, I got there excited and quickly realized I was tapped out on empowerment.

I had no room to soak up anything new.  I just came off of a week long retreat listening to over 20 of the most powerful women I know support me in my next growth spurt and working through all of my upper limits.

I really just felt like sitting on my new office floor and throwing paint mindlessly on a canvas.

OMG even now that sounds like soo much fun, doesn’t it?

I was not in the mood to make new friends or answer the question, “What do you do?”

By the way, can we make a commitment to each other that we will ask better questions when we meet new people? Like, maybe something we actually would find fascinating about them, other than what they “do”.

How about “Who are you?” No, that’s kind of intense, but I did put all of the lovely members of my Mentor Master class on the spot in class this week.

I made them answer that question so we could release the identities they cling to, that limit them from living out their deepest desires.

I think it’s more revealing and enticing to see how someone responds to that question though, don’t you?

This was totally inspired by one of the featured speakers at WDS.

So, back to the summit, I decided to take it real easy on myself.

And you know what?

It was refreshing to become the witness and listen to my own needs vs what my thoughts say I “should do” or what a “REAL” and “successful” entrepreneur would do. I’m a yes to following the rules of a more abundant voice, my inner guide.

She says, “Relax, follow what feels good, be yourself and HELLO, you ARE a REAL and successful entrepreneur.”

(Sigh) yes I am.

So I:

• Skipped out on a few speakers (which I NEVER do)

• Snuck off to sip margaritas, sit in the grass and move my body with one of my best friends & business partners (you know Shay)
• Went to bed early with my hubby (even when my friends were going out)
• Carried on conversations with people I was absolutely thrilled to connect with and politely excused myself from anything that tempted me to go on autopilot

The weekend was EVERYTHING because of that choice.

On the last night of the conference I went to dinner, came back to our beautiful hotel and crawled in bed.

I could hear the music from the WDS closing party.

No, it was not in my hotel.

Chris Guillebeau rented out a full square, in the center of Portland.

They had a massive stage and hired an amazing DJ to close out the event. Oh, and did I mention the first day we had the Portland zoo to ourselves?

Anyway, I decided to check in, rather than assume that I was still not in the mood to put myself out there.

So with my nightie on, at 10:45pm, in my perfectly fluffy bed I asked, “Jey, do you want to go to this party, do you want to dance, and is there anyone you want to meet before you go back home?”

I was a YES, YES and YES for all of it!

AND, I had exclusive tickets to a “hush, hush” V.I.P “after the after party” party (thanks Sara D), where some of my biggest industry girl crushes were going to be.  More importantly my favorite girlfriends who I don’t get to see very often, because they are spread out all over the world.

So I didn’t even put on make up, I just went! Thank the baby Jesus I did.

I ended up shaking my ass and breaking a sweet sweat with my friends Nisha Moodley, Nathalie Lussier, Vasavi Kumar, Jessica Scheer, Laura Hames Franklin and Sara Davidson (who all have nice buns I might add).

I shared a toast with Danielle Laporte, bumped into Jacob Sokol and had a heart opening convo with Selena Soo.

I needed some booty bumping with awesome women, manifested that bump in with Jacob (I’m looking to introduce him to my coaches in training). I’m totally obsessed with the captivating Danielle, and loved the moment we shared. I found my next personal investment, a very exciting program Selena is launching this year.

BOOM.

The Secret

This was just another smack in the face reminder from the universe for me. Owning your power is about constantly checking in with where YOU are, what’s resonating with YOU and being fiercely devoted to following the voice of your own inner guidance.

When you do, everything will come with ease and you will have the experience of perfect synchronicity.

Think back to 4 years ago, even though you are in the trenches, wouldn’t you be so damn proud of where you are today and how far you’ve come? You’d be thankful for the home that you have, the connections you’ve made and the risks you have taken. Maybe you need to be a little less fight or flight and a lot more thankful and gentle for how beautifully talented and driven you actually are.

Everything I could have dreamed of experiencing that weekend came to fruition. I could have doubted my desires and forced myself to show up and talk to everyone at the event.

I wonder if I ever would have made it out that final night, if I had pushed hard the first few days? What do you think?

Never use shame or guilt as your moral compass. When you do, you play somebody else’s game.

Take 100% responsibility for your actions and trust yourself when you do.

Your inner guide knows how to sync you up with divine timing.

2. Fabulous Sisters

June was about being fabulous in San Francisco. Jumping on trampolines, and drinking tea with some of the most inspiring women I know on this planet, kind of fabulous.photo(17)

I met with Lisa Fabrega, Ali Shanti, Julia Allison, Sarah Jenks, Elayne Doughty, and all of the women in my Freedom Mastermind (Nisha, Lindsay & 18 incredibly gifted sisters). This was the second retreat as part of our 9-month journey exploring intrinsic freedom.

Lisa, you look like an angel

Sarah, my total girl crush

Ali, this picture doesn’t show your gorgeous glitter eyes

There were so many ridiculously life changing moments from this retreat, and I’ll be sharing many over the next few months.

By the way I’m totally name dropping in this blog aren’t I?

It is not because I want you to think I’m cool, it’s because I’m really fucking (that’s right) excited that I’ve arrived at this moment and surrounded by this heart opening circle of friends.

I’m thankful that a year of believing in myself has manifested the reality I desire to live in.

The Secret

Stepping into the spotlight has nothing to do with whom you wish to be, hang out with, or what you need to do.

Owning your power has everything to do with who you already are, your intentions and the actions you are taking.

My new friends are cool, but my relationship with life and myself is even cooler.

One thing I am witness to constantly in my own life and with clients (who are aspiring & experienced coaches) is our desire to be seen, heard and special.

We waste our time and energy comparing and contrasting ourselves in hopes of figuring out the secret weapon to finally getting “there”.

Be courageous and thankful on the journey to becoming all of you.

Your tagline, your niche, your perfect client is waiting for you to recognize your own power. The spotlight finds you when you believe in your own coolness and in the moments where you are undyingly ready to serve from that place of knowing.

3. Sex

Masculine energy does not look good on me and sister I bet it’s not your best feature either.

I looked in the mirror and it wasn’t pretty.

Silencing my deepest desires has robbed me of the chance to be vulnerable. When I’m not being vulnerable, there is no real way for me to be seen. If I can’t be seen, I won’t be felt and connection is not even an option for me when I’m walking around in steel shoes and total darkness.

I don’t know about you, but I prefer to be barefoot. I like smiling in the light with my feet connected to the ground beneath me.

I love connection. I wait for it. I crave connection. I breathe for it. I look for connection everywhere I go.

I want it with my love, every second I can get it. I want it with my friends. I honor it in moments with myself. I yearn for it with the members of my tribe who I am honored to serve.

The Secret

Stop waiting to be beautiful.

Most of us are feminine at our core. Desires, feelings, emotions and the taste for exploration is what makes you irresistible.

• Find a way to be vulnerable with the ones you love
• Share what you want to feel and experience in your love & life
• Honor your animal like (very feminine) emotions

Every time you bury or fight who you are, you are refusing to shine. On the other side of your frustration and fear is a world of divinely feminine pleasure and freedom.

I had a tough conversation with my hubby that took a lot of ego eroticting and vulnerability.  Ummm, let me just say it was TOTALLY worth it and I’m feeling divinely feminine.

As I sit here on the beach, outside my new home, writing in my journal in colored ink (with the intention of typing this up later to post).

I’m thankful for my actions, aligned with my power and totally soaking up the spotlight by the ocean shore.

Even writing in a journal is an act of self-love, sure it’s more work, but I like the flow of my thoughts to the page and the fun colors I switch off using in between inspired words.

 I LOVE MY COLORED PENS

  1. Wow! My “new” improved site is NOT up and running yet, as I am trying to soak in all the love from mentors like you, while I learn and really connect with who I am… what I am hearing over and over is not to compare myself with others… I am cool, I am feminine, I am (fill in the blank) all by myself! I have to get OUT of the mindset of guilt and shame being my (non) motivators… I love this post, keep the love coming!

    • Amanda there is no power in scarcity sister! And what you feel is just the recognition of your own light! More love coming to you always! In support of your unique expression and expansion. Love to you doll!
