Today’s episode is inspired by a deeper reflection on knowing who you truly are right now, what you value and should be placing as your top focused priority. If you’ve ever done a self-help-type inventory your values and priorities, you’ve probably encountered the idea that these are fixed and permanent aspects of your character…

This is not true at all! I teach my clients to get clear on their values and priorities every 3-6 months!  

The main benefit of knowing your values is that you will gain potent clarity and focus, and ultimately you must use that newfound clarity to make consistent decisions and take committed action. The point of clarifying your values is to dramatically increase the results you get in the areas of life that are truly most important to you.  I mean life right now!

Values are priorities that tell you how to spend your time, right here, right now.  Not what you would have chosen 5 years ago or 5 months from now.

I like to think about values and priorities as parts of us that are always changing. We go through changes every day — and we should constantly be looking into this part of ourselves and respecting our own evolution so we can alter our lives accordingly if we need to.

I’ve found that time management is the #1 struggle — not knowing where to focus in their lives — I hear about from the women I work with.

So on our walk today, we’ll be talking about:
  • An incredibly powerful time management exercise — it’s one of the many life and coaching techniques I teach my students in Mentor Masterclass. (3:20)

  • Why you can’t really do anything else before you know what you truly value (I also share my response when I recently found out my husband has never taken inventory of his values!) (5:19)

  • Why we all tend to be inconsistent with where we’re investing our time and energy (6:34)

  • How most of the results we’ll see in our lives exist on a continuum — and what that really means (you’ll be relieved!) (8:20)

  • Why you might never experience your version of the best life (at least not if you keep living the way you are right now) (11:00)

  • How I’ve been valuing love and connection in my life and career for over 7 years now… what’s gone well, and what has suffered as a result? (12:15)
