4 Tricks to Make You Unforgettable Onstage for Your Next Performance or Key Note Speech

February 18th, 2015 | no comments

What’s the secret to receiving endless invitations to speak and lead as a coach?

Creating memorable moments when you’re onstage – a climax, something that your audience will think back on as the moment they really connected with you.

You know – the kind of moment people will instantly tweet, snap a photo of, share on Instagram, or go home and write Facebook status updates about .

So, now the question is: how do you create that “star moment” that will help your message go viral, spread, or catch the attention of influential media?

That’s exactly what we’re going to be talking about today.

70% of speakers will never be invited to speak again – because they don’t know how to create memorable moments on stage #wakeupwed {Click to Tweet}

But don’t worry my love – because with the tips I’ve outlined in today’s video and below, you won’t fall into that category.

Memorable moments captivate your audience and create buzz. So let’s create yours!

Here are my 4 favorite techniques to dazzle your audience, and have the paparazzi all over you when you’re ready to share and shine.

Memorable Moment 1: Shocking Statistics

People love when you provide factual, mind blowing statistics – especially when they evoke a visual. The more vivid the pictures the picture you paint, the better your audience will connect emotionally with what you’re saying.

Memorable Moment 2: Memorable Dramatization

Ever watched a soap opera? The stars know how to make everything soo dramatic… and they captivate audiences because of it.

Captivating leaders should be dramatic too! After all, every good presentation has a problem and a solution. Ask yourself: how can you dramatize the problem to create a memorable moment with?

One example I love to share is from a talk Bill Gates gave about Malaria. In the conference room, he said “There’s no reason only poor people should be infected with malaria!” and he opened up a jar and let mosquitos loose in the room.

Can you imagine the impact? Powerful stuff.

Memorable Moment 3: Tell a Colorful Personal Story

Reality T.V. is insanely popular because there’s simply nothing more interesting than a behind-the-scenes peek into someone’s life.

That’s why sharing an experience from your personal life that’s completely unexpected can hold an audience spellbound. It may take a little bit of vulnerability, but it will deeply resonate with your audience (and get them talking!)

Memorable Moment 4: Catch Their Attention

This final technique is pretty simple too: use. the. pause.

Memorable moments usually come right after all eyes are on you, and the silence is ringing. Take a moment to own that quiet second, and follow the silence with your most important information or call to action. Your audience will remember what you say forever.

Easy peasy, right? You’re totally prepared to be the talk of the town.

Speaking of talking – it’s about that time, sisters! Let’s get the conversation moving in the comments below and in our Wake Up Wednesday Sisterhood FB Group.

What is the most memorable moment you have ever seen someone create on stage?

And, as always, if you know an aspiring or established speaker and leader who would l-o-v-e to create more memorable moments, feel free to pass this along by sharing with them on Facebook.
